Provide a graduated rate schedule which rewards low users with lower bills. Provide an advantageous time of use schedule to promote off-peak usage and discourage peak usage. This will lower everyone’s bill’s as our wholesale rate is tied to our peak usage.

Create Log Pong Park, A Downtown Park for Apex
After the parking issues are resolved, convert the existing lot on Saunders to a signature destination park. Absorb the old cigar shop if possible along with other adjacent parcels.
Expand Salem Street Sidewalks
Implement the downtown plan. Get rid of the parallel parking, expand the sidewalks to make additional retail space. Line Salem St with trees. Improve pedestrian safety with bump outs and raised crosswalks.
Apex Needs a Free, Publicly Funded Parking Structure
[NOTE: Recent parking studies have indicated we don’t yet need to build out additional parking. But when we do someday, this is what I want it to look like and where I want it to be]
Build a free, public parking structure behind where Scratch kitchen is. No paid parking. No public/private partnerships.
Expand Salem Street Sidewalks
Remove the parallel parking and expand the sidewalks to expand the space for retail use, including outdoor seating and dining. Line Salem St with trees.
Apex Needs a Free, Publicly Funded Parking Structure
…located behind Scratch, away from Salem Street and Saunders Street. No paid lots. No public/private partnership. Only done when a parking study deems it necessary (could be a decade or more away)
Apex Should Ban Test Drives on Town Roads
Now that we’re suddenly adjacent to multiple car dealerships, we need an ordinance to ban test driving of vehicles on town owned roads.
Stop Clearcutting with a Tree Protection Ordinance
Follow the NC Forest Service’s guide to develop a robust tree protection ordinance. Don’t allow clearcutting without a permit, don’t grant a permit unless every tree cutdown is more than adequately replaced.
Evolve Apex’s Government Structure
Apex has outgrown our current government structure, which is more appropriate for a small village. Change the town council to six members, four of which run in districts and two run at large. Change the mayor to be a “voting” mayor with more executive authority. Change the name of the Town Council to Board of Alderman, to better mark the distinction and get people to notice.
Create an Environmental Review Board
Create an environmental review board, a citizens advisory board which is a peer of the planning board, purely to review the environmental impact of a proposed rezoning considering all mitigations offered by the developer and make an approval or denial recommendation.
